Quick Recipe Insights For Your Vegan Burger Patties

  • Black Beans: They’re an awesome source of protein and fiber, and they make up most of the protein in this burger.
  • Chipotle Peppers in Adobo Sauce: These peppers are super tasty and add a small amount of protein, a bit more carbs, and a tiny bit of fat.
  • Breadcrumbs: They’re mostly carbs! They help hold the burger together and make it a little crispy when you cook it.
  • Olive Oil: This is where most of the fat in the recipe comes from. But it’s important to know that olive oil has healthy fats that are good for you.

VARIATIONS

  • Gluten-Free: Use gluten-free breadcrumbs or rolled oats as a substitute.
  • Extra Spicy: Add extra chipotle pepper or a dash of cayenne pepper for more heat.

The Best Toppings For Your Smoky Chipotle Vegan Burger Patties

  • Sliced avocado or guacamole to make it creamy
  • Crisp lettuce and juicy tomato slices for a fresh crunch
  • Vegan mayo or spicy ketchup to add more yummy flavors

What to Serve with Your Burgers

  • Put these burgers on a whole wheat bun or wrap them in lettuce for a lighter choice.
  • Serve them with sweet potato fries or a simple coleslaw to make a full meal.

Storing Your Leftover Burgers

  • Keep cooked patties in a sealed container in the fridge for up to 3 days.
  • To freeze, put wax paper between the patties and keep them in the freezer for up to a month. Let them thaw in the fridge overnight before heating them up again.

Ingredients

  • 2 cans (15 oz each) black beans, drained and rinsed
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup chipotle peppers in adobo sauce, finely chopped
  • 1/4 cup fresh cilantro, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1/2 tsp ground cumin
  • Salt, to taste
  • 2 tbsp olive oil or another preferred cooking oil
  • Optional toppings: lettuce, tomatoes, avocado, vegan cheese, and vegan mayo

Instructions

  • Preparation of Black Beans: In a large bowl, mash the black beans with a fork or potato masher until most beans are broken up but some chunks remain. This will give your patties a nice texture!
  • Mix Ingredients: Add the breadcrumbs, chipotle peppers, cilantro, garlic, smoked paprika, cumin, and salt to the mashed beans. Mix well until combined.
  • Form the Patties: Using your hands, divide the mixture into 4 equal parts and shape them into patties.
  • Cooking: In a skillet over medium heat, warm the oil. Once hot, add the patties and cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until they’re golden brown and crispy.
  • Serving: Serve the patties on your favorite vegan burger buns with optional toppings and enjoy!

Notes

You can adjust the spiciness by varying the amount of chipotle peppers. To add more depth of flavor, consider grilling the patties for that additional smoky touch.
