- Condensed Milk: 1 can 14 oz, sweetens and thickens the flan.
- Evaporated Milk: 1 can 12 oz, adds creaminess without the fat of cream.
- Vanilla Extract: 1 teaspoon for a hint of warmth and flavor.
- Salt: A pinch to balance the sweetness.
Instructions
- Prepare the Caramel: In a medium saucepan, melt the sugar over medium heat, swirling the pan occasionally until golden and smooth. Pour into a round baking dish, tilting to coat the bottom evenly.
- Mix the Custard: In a blender, combine eggs, condensed milk, evaporated milk, vanilla, and salt. Blend until smooth.
- Bake: Pour the custard mixture over the hardened caramel. Place the baking dish in a larger pan filled halfway with water (bain-marie). Bake at 350°F for 50-60 minutes until set.
- Chill and Serve: Let cool, then refrigerate for at least 4 hours. To serve, invert onto a plate, allowing the caramel sauce to flow over the flan.
